Use of Outdoor Rinks for Practices
The use of outdoor rinks is strongly recommended, especially at the younger ages. Outdoor rinks must be pre-booked with the City of Ottawa by a team official.
However, when organized by any team Official, including Coach, Assistants or Manager, the players MUST wear all of their equipment. Teams in the Cumberland Minor Hockey Association who are identified practicing or scrimmaging as a team WITHOUT full equipment will be subject to disciplinary action.
Special precautions should also be taken depending upon the weather. Outdoor sessions held at -10C should only be held after the players and their parents have been instructed to wear multiple layers, a turtle neck sweater under their jersey and maybe even a dab of Vaseline on their cheeks (prevents frostbite).
Outdoor practices / scrimmages should be cancelled at -20C.
